Miraculous escape for KSRTC passengers above 1000-feet gorge in Thamarassery

Kalpetta: The twenty-odd travelers, including the crew of a KSRTC bus, had a miraculous escape after the bus hit one of the boundary walls along the hair-pin bents of Thamarasssery pass in the wee hours of Saturday. The accident occurred after the driver dozed off.

The bus, which was on its way to Wayanad from Thodupuzha, stopped after hitting the boundary structure and stood precariously on the edge of the cliff after the eighth bent of Thamarasseri pass around 3 am on Saturday.

On Friday, the bus which had left Wayanad at 6.15 am had reached Thodupuza two hours late. Since the bus had to make the return journey immediately it is said that the driver did not get time for rest amid the two long-trips.
