Driver sustains serious injuries after KSRTC bus rams into rear side of lorry

Traffic was disrupted for around three hours following the accident. Traffic on the stretch normalised only after the bus was removed using a crane.

Attingal: The driver of a KSRTC Scania bus sustained serious injuries after the bus rammed into a lorry at Poovanpara on the Thiruvananthapuram-Attingal National Highway.

The bus going to Thiruvananthapuram from Bengaluru rammed into the rear side of the lorry.

The accident happened around 5.30 am. Bus driver Shinu (35), who is a native of Nedumangad, and passengers who suffered minor injuries, were admitted to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital. The front portion of the bus has been completely damaged. Driver Shinu sustained injuries on his hands, legs and neck.

The labourers were engaged in drawing the Zebra crossing lines as part of maintenance work on the national highway. As it was very dark, the driver of the lorry carrying sand from Kollam, did not see them and when the vehicle reached near them, he applied a sudden brake. The KSRTC scania bus which was behind rammed into the lorry.
