Man smashed in the head by flying tyre; CCTV Video

A Brazilian man who was knocked out cold by a flying tyre in a piece of freakishly rotten luck is said to be feeling “much better” after the cosmically cruel incident late last week.

Robert Carlos Fernandes was taking a stroll with his wife along a quiet street in Ipatinga, Brazil, when he unwittingly walked into the path of the rogue tyre, which came loose from a vehicle traveling along the highway adjacent.

CCTV of the nasty accident shows the tyre come bouncing down an embankment and launching into the air, almost as if guided by some malign otherworldly hand and smashing poor Mr. Fernandes square in the back of the head.

Knocked out cold on impact, the unfortunate 50-year-old then pitched forward onto the pavement and landed on his face, much to the shock of his wife and other onlookers, who rushed to his aid.

The instant viral appeal of the video, which has been viewed tens of millions of times, belies just how dangerous the chance occurrence was: Mr. Fernandes suffered a fractured skull and injuries to his chest, but is reportedly now on the mend.
