The KSRTC has hiked the minimum charges of the AC and non-AC low- floor buses, super deluxe, super express, and hitech AC buses with effect from Sunday midnight.

The AC low-floor minimum charge has been increased from Rs 10 to Rs 15 and that of non-AC from Rs 5 to Rs 8.

The minimum charge of super deluxe buses has been hiked from Rs 20 to 25, super express from Rs 15 to 17 and hitech AC from Rs 25 to 35. There is no change in other long-route buses.

KSRTC Executive Director K. M. Irshad told Deccan Chronicle that the decision was taken because the KSRTC had not hiked the charges of low-floor buses during the last fare hike in November 2012.

The KSRTC runs the low-floor AC buses under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram corporations.
