The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) deploy 10 electric buses in the Thiruvananthapuram – Ernakulam section and also in certain city routes in both the cities.

Online ticket reservation facility is available for the services and there will be a conductor in the bus.

According to a press release from the manufacturer, the 9-meter Air-Conditioned low floor buses having a capacity of 32+1 (Driver) seats has zero emission and is noiseless. The Lithium-Ion battery installed in the bus enables it to travel up to 250 kms in a single charge based on traffic conditions.

The technologically advanced eBuzz K7 has a regenerative braking system which enables the bus to recover part of the kinetic energy lost in braking. The high-power AC charging system enables the battery to get fully recharged in between 2-3 hours.

With one charging, which will need three to four hours, the buses can run up to 300 km. “We have set up charging facility at Haripad and two others are in the pipeline at Alappuzha and Ernakulam. A 10-minute charging will provide 25% power,” a KSRTC official said.

It has electronically controlled air suspension to ensure a comfortable travel. This model is also equipped to offer protection from short circuit, over temperature function and lightening to ensure a safe ride to the passengers.

The Mumbai-based Maha Voyage LLP had provided the buses by quoting the lowest of ₹ 43.20 per km. The KSRTC will get a net balance of ₹6,540 per bus daily after electricity cost and wet lease amount.
