KSRTC vigilance wing finds 99 discrepancies

In a statewide surprise inspection held on Sunday, the vigilance wing of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has detected 99 discrepancies in issuing bus tickets to passengers who travelled in KSRTC buses.

“We reported 73 cases in which passengers either travelled without buying ticket or possessed invalid tickets,” said a senior officer who was part of the inspection.

The officer said they have also reported another 24 cases based on complaints raised by passengers in conductors issuing tickets to them.

Two cases of conductor not issuing ticket to passengers even after ticket payment were also reported.

The vigilance officer (KSRTC) S Vasundharan Pillai said action will be taken against the conductors, who were held for the discrepancies.

“All the 21 vigilance squads of the transport corporation took part in the surprise inspection held in all major routes, including National Highways, between 6.30am and 11am on Sunday. In all, 180 vigilance inspectors participated in the inspection and we examined ticket transactions in 1,543 buses,” said an inspector who took part in the drive.
