The salary of Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) staff will be remitted in their bank accounts from July onwards. The pensioners will also get their monthly payment through their bank accounts, KSRTC MD K G Mohanlal told mediapersons after the high-level meeting of transport officials held here on Tuesday.

The meeting was presided over by Transport Minister Aryadan Mohammed.

“An MoU has been entered with the State Bank of Travancore for remitting the amount,” Mohanlal said.

He said that the pension arrears of KSRTC were only for one month. From July onwards, the pension would be disbursed in the same month itself.

Referring to the installation of Global Positioning System (GPS) in KSRTC buses, Mohanlal said that the works in connection with this were in the final stage.

“GPS would help to determine the position of buses and also help to ensure that the services follow the time schedule,” he said.

The meeting also decided to purchase 4,000 electronic ticket machines for the KSRTC. “Another decision was to convert super fast, super express and super deluxe buses which were more than five years old into ordinary buses.

New buses will be purchased in their place,” the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation MD said.

There are around 4,000 vacancies to the post of conductors and drivers and it will be reported to the Public Service Commission (PSC).

Another decision was to construct bus depots in Anayara and Konni after the KSRTC acquires the land for the purpose.

“The Corporation would take up the issues related to sanctioning of routes to private buses in several places, adversely affecting the revenue of Kerala State Road Transport Corporation, with the Transport Commissioner,” Mohanlal said.
