The annual Kavadiyattam festival of the Kottarakara Vilangara Subramanya Swamy temple will be held on January 24 . Thousands of devotees take part in the Kavadiyattam ritual. Sixty temples in the area are associated with the festival. The festival will begin the children’s Kavadiyattam at 4 a.m. The main Kavadiyattam will begin at noon and culminate at the Indilayapan temple at Vilangara. The golden Kavadi and the ‘panchaloha’ Kavadi will join the procession. Facilities are being arranged for devotees to have darshan of the golden Kavadi. The famous ‘agni’ Kavadi ritual will be held at night. The fire for this ritual is made from 30 tonnes of wood from the jackfruit tree.

Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will organise special services to the temple from Kottarakara, Chadayamangalam, Punalur, Pathanapuram, Adoor, and Chathannur.
