The KSRTC ran extra services from Kozhikode for two days to meet the rush of passengers following the train accident at Karukutty near Angamaly on last week. The passengers thronged the new KSRTC bus terminal here to catch the buses to Ernakulam side even during the early hours, though a few trains had started services. The Kozhikode KSRTC alone ran 12 extra services to Ernakulam side.

KSRTC zonal manager Safarulla said, “Sunday was a busy day for KSTRC and it was after a long gap that we witnessed such rush at our new terminal after it was launched.” The transport minister had announced the running of 72 special services after the accident. “On Sunday alone we collected Rs 3.5 lakh from the AC services, double that of normal days. On Monday we collected nearly `3 lakh from the AC services. The non- AC buses generated Rs 4-5 lakh, while the precious highest record was less than Rs 2 lakh,” he pointed out.
