KSRTC Plastic free campaign for Sabarimala Pilgrims

Campaign for “Plastic Free Sabarimala”, A joined venture of Pathanamthitta Municipality along with KSRTC has inaugurated by minister Sri Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan Yesterday at KSRTC Bus Terminal, Thiruvananthapuram.

Environment conservation at Sabarimala is imperative to keep the sanctity of the hill shrine, said Forest Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan.  He was speaking after inaugurating the “plastic-free Sabarimala” campaign at Thampanoor bus terminal here on Monday.

“Pilgrims should be rescued from the plastic menace at Sabarimala. Various government departments are taking coordinating efforts to make Sabarimala environment-friendly,” Radhakrishnan said.

The minister inaugurated the campaign by affixing plastic-free stickers on KSRTC buses and distributing cloth bags to pilgrims.

Health Minister V S Sivakumar presided over the function. V T Balram MLA, Pathanmthitta District Collector S Harikishore and KSRTC chairman and managing director Antony Chacko attended the function. The programme was organised by the KSRTC in association with the Pathanamthitta district administration.
