[blockquote]Deccan Chronicle has reported today that the state transport corporation is willing to operate bus services towards Chennai & Hyderabad. But, we have a question: Where are the buses? At present, KSRTC is having a fleet of 10 Volvo AC air buses and is operating in Bangalore sector from Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Ernakulam & Kozhikode. Without having enough number of services, how can they start operating services in a new route? We, Team KSRTC Blog request KSRTC to buy some new buses which can meet the demand of public along with a proper online reservation portal. [/blockquote]

The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC)’s plans to operate more  inter-state services have received a  boost with the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transportation Corporation(APSRTC)  responding positively to its offer.

“We hope to operate Volvo services to destinations like Chennai, Hyderabad, Goa, Pune and Vishakhapatnam and have written to their respective corporations suggesting that we enter into an inter-state operation agreement. The APSRTC has responded positively, paving the way for our services to Hyderabad. We have begun the process of signing a pact with it, ” disclosed Mr Antony Chacko, chairman and managing director, KSRTC.

The KSRTC hasn’t met with similar success yet with the Tamil Nadu State Road Transportation despite offering to run its services to Chennai earlier this month. Currently, the KSRTC  runs Volvo buses services only to Bangalore. “We’re trying various ways to attract more passengers to make the Volvo bus services profitable. As a first step I’ve convened a meeting of the crew from all depots and collected a list of their suggestions. The good ones like change in timings will be implemented soon,” Mr Chacko added.

“Passengers can book tickets by calling the crew whose mobile numbers have been published on our website. Also from October 11, we’re appointing a clerk at the Central Control Room to deal with all types of passenger complaints,” the chairman said.
