Aimed at bringing down pollution level, Public Kerala State Transport Corporation (KSRTC) would gradually turn to bio-diesel in the state, Transport Minister A K Saseendran said.

Inaugurating maiden bio-diesel bunk launched by the Indian Oil Corporation at KSRTC Thottilppalam sub-depot in the district, he said National Green Tribunal (NGT) was imposing strict restrictions on diesel vehicles as excessive smoke emitted by it was polluting the atmosphere.

The tribunal had set a time frame of ten years for diesel vehicles in the country, he said though it has granted relaxation on the stipulation, everybody has to adhere to the norms aimed at protecting the nature.

Stating similar pumps would be established in Kozhikode depot, Thalassery and Payyannur depots in Kannur district this month itself, he said other districts would also get the facility soon.
