The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has decided to repair the damaged underground storage diesel tank at the Ernakulam KSRTC depot soon. The IOC officials have also informed the KSRTC authorities that they would replace the tank, if it was irreparable.

KSRTC Assistant Transport Officer C Venugopal said, “ The IOC officials conducted an inspection on Tuesday. They have informed us that they will re-inspect it after two days.”

On Monday, several services were cancelled or delayed owing to lack of diesel in the depot. Officials say that it is impossible to store diesel in the tank because of the leakage on one of the tanks. “One tank has the capacity to store 50,000 litre diesel. Usually the consumption is less than the storage capacity. But because of the problem, it’s impossible to keep it for the next day,” added Venugopal.
