Bangalore Ernakulam Super Express – A Worst Story

I would like to share one of the worst experience i had with our own ksrtc. I had to rush my native for an emergency on the day before vishu. I did a random search in the kerala, karnata srtc websites and as usual in irctc though don’t have any hope there. Finally i found 4 seats available in our KSRTC Ernakulam Express, our good old green bus. I am very sad to say that it was a pathetic decision.

The bus was expected to come by 5:15 to e-city but arrived by 6:45PM. It was the 3+2 seating plan and i was in one of the 3 seated pair 3rd from the last row. I felt like I am placed inside a micro wave oven and the drivers were very koool in this oven so that they always tried to keep the speed less than 50km/hr 🙁 🙁 More over for every 2 hours they stop the bus for Drinks break !!

Hoooooo… wen it reached Selam one of the guy in the first rows lost his purse, so driver announced that we will commence the journey once the purse is back !! After a long search, that bugger passenger with the worst smile on his face “Hey, its okay we can start now my purse is here in my bag”.. I felt this is one of the bad day in my life..

Again after 2 hours another issue came up. A guy sitting near to a beauty stood up and kicked the man behind the seat over his face. He claimed that the passenger in the behind seat touched his Girl !! Horrible, again 1 hour drinks break to summaries and solve the issue. Bus reached Coimbatore some how, now here it is.. People started rushing into the bus though its midnight and the generous conductor gave tickets to all of these guys.. Praise the lord, it was really uncomfortable to sit in a 3 seated chair side and now people started lean over our shoulders as well… Well, once the bus reached palakkad, bus seemed to be stopped like a HARTAL…. enquired about when it would start the journey. Conductor’s fair reply “We are early today, lets wait for Kottarakkara and Thiruvalla Super Deluxes to pass”.. Ahaaaaa, awesome !!!

I reached Ernakulam 7:15AM morning.. I felt like I am ill, yes it was… I got body pain and fever. Though I came home for an emergency with 4 days of leave, I was in bed for more than 2 days to recover…

There are lot of things to change, lot of things to improve !! Systems are easy to change but its hard for people… Hope for a better tomorrow KSRTC… kudoos…. !!


  1. KSRTC management seem to be content with running buses upto Super X’press. They can’t think of Super Dlx and Volvos like KaSRTC. When KaSRTC runs Volvos and Mercides apart from Rajhamsa and Vaibhav, KeSRTC sticks to their age old concept of Super X’press. When they make Dlx buses they do the body building only in their own worshops with the result that the buses do not match with the concept of such buses.

    At least on interstate routes, they should run comfortable buses. Nowadays, passengers prefer comfortable journey. They spent more money on AC buses. This can be seen from KaSRTC buses. Their buses are always preferred by the commuters. When Ganesh Kumar and Mathew T Thomas were Transport Ministers, they introduced AC buses. They had the concept of modern travel. The subsequent Ministers withdrew these buses and are happy to sit on Super X’Press and Super Fast. I don’t know when KSRTC will come to terms with modern travel concepts!!!

  2. 6.45 ബാംഗ്ലൂരില്‍ നിന്ന് പുറപെട്ട ലെയ് ലാന്‍ഡ് എക്സ്പ്രസ്സ്‌ വണ്ടി (50km/hr സ്പീഡില്‍ കൂടുതല്‍ എടുക്കാതെ )1 മണിക്കൂര്‍ പെണ്ണ് കേസും 2 മണിക്കൂര്‍ കൂടുമ്പോള്‍ ഉള്ള വെള്ളംകുടിയും പാലക്കാടു ഉള്ള നീണ്ട ബ്രേകും കഴിഞ്ഞു 7.15 ഇന് ഏറണാകുളം എത്തിയോ ?കണക്കില്‍ എന്തോ പ്രശ്നം ഉള്ള പോലെ ..

    വായിച്ചിടത്തോളം പേര്‍സ്‌ നഷ്ടപെട്ടതും പെണ്ണ് കേസും ഡ്രൈവര്‍ക്ക് ഒന്നും ചെയ്യാനില്ല..ഇതിനിപോ അയാള്‍ പോലീസ് സ്റ്റേഷനില്‍ (നിയമപരമായി അതാണ്‌ വേണ്ടത് ) വണ്ടി കൊണ്ട് പോയാല്‍ 1hr ഇല്‍ കൂടുതല്‍ സമയം നഷ്ട്ടപെടും. പിന്നെ പാലക്കാട്‌ പിടിച്ചിട്ട കേസ് – ആ വണ്ടിക്കു കേരളത്തില്‍ പഞ്ചിംഗ് ഉള്ള ആദ്യ സ്റ്റേഷന്‍ പാലക്കാട് ആയിരിക്കും. രാത്രി സെര്‍വീസുകള്‍ പൊതുവേ നേരത്തെ എത്തിയാല്‍ ടൈം ആകുന്നതു വരെ സ്റ്റേഷനില്‍ കിടക്കാറുണ്ട്.(TVM -PLKD exp , tvm -ekm – mnr exp എല്ലാം ഉദാഹരണം ) നേരത്തെ പാലക്കാട്‌ എത്തി എന്ന് ഡ്രൈവര്‍ പറഞ്ഞ സ്ഥിതിക്ക് അതില്‍ തെറ്റ് കാണുനില്ല .എക്സ്പ്രസ്സ്‌ ബസ്‌ ഇല്‍ ഡീലക്സ് പോലെ സിറ്റിംഗ് മാത്രം അല്ലാത്ത സ്ഥിതിക്ക് എത്ര ആളുകള്‍ കേറിയാലും കണ്ടക്ടര്‍ ടിക്കറ്റ്‌ കൊടുത്തെ പറ്റൂ…

    സ്പീഡ് 50 ആയിരുന്നു എന്ന്നു പറയുന്നത് … 😉

  3. Pathetic to run 3×2 old chasis Super Express to Bangalore. On 08-04-12, I was waiting at Madivala for Garuda, and this Express(is it?) bus turned up at 5 pm with only 3 or 4 seats taken! The conductor shouted “Salem…Covai” but no one bothered to get in.
    Whereas the Garuda turned up at 5.45, with all seats taken, and we overtook the Exp near Thoppur! Reached Ernakulam at 02.15, only 8 hr 30 minutes from Bangalore!!!

  4. a public transport bus reaching a place before scheduled time is not problem for anybody but if that bus leaves that place before its scheduled time what will happen somebody may miss that bus, that must be avoided.from a drivers point of view it is better to take short breaks while on long drives to decrease the response time.then never react next time when your girl is disturbed in such a situation because the others passengers rushing in emergency may not encourage you.just imagine your condition in a trains general compartment if you are not getting seat in KSRTC….

  6. Your experience is far better dude…. Atleast the bus reached the destination (though it is 1 Hrs 15 mins late than the scheduled time). Remember, this is the worst service of KSRTC from Bangalore towards Trissur. Still they do regular maintenance of the bus and makes sure that the bus is good for a long journey. Also the amount you are paying for this service is Rs 400+.
    I booked ticket in SONA travels special ac bus from EKM to BLR for my sister and brother in law for 15 april. The bus fare was Rs 1100 per ticket. The bus condition was bad and when they reached near Salem(150 kms before Salem), the bus caught fire near the engine. Suddenly the crew alerted all the passengers and all got down. They told they escaped from big accident just because of luck. Luckly they got seat in Sangita travels which came after that, but, many others who were in the bus could reach bangalore only in the afternoon by some alternate arrangements.
    I feel the service provided by KSRTC is far better than those private special craps. Majority of the IT ‘ns in Blore will opt KSRTC as their last choice to go to Kerala. I have heard many complaining about our super deluxe buses even without travelling once. Without using the service how we can ask for new volvos?
    I agree that the timing of this bus is not at all useful for Bangalorians. If it gets upgraded as volvo and departure from Bangalore and EKM is after 7.30 PM, it will defnitely be a huge success. But KSRTC is common man’s mode of travel and they can’t upgrade all services to premium….

  7. They must remove all the 3×3 express buses and replace it with 2×2 push back seats.. its your fault to choose that bus….for long journeys its the worst..

  8. Some of the private bus/Kesrtc are charging double fare during festivals on the name of special service by running normal bus.

    But our KSRTC charge is fixed and they will not take any extra money for any service which is special or normal.

    As per my opinion,travelling in KSRTC is far better than travelling in train where there is no value for our money and our life

  9. Gotta say, i like this bus. I travel on this mostly off-season because my holidays are always off-season. Leaves BGLR at 4.15, stops for food at 8.30, another tea break around 1 outside Coimbatore and Ernakulam at 5-6. Only had one unexpected stop that was when the crew and some pax wanted to buy some mangoes.. just 10 minutes.. About the pax rush at CBE, its quite normal. And all of them get off one hour later at Palakkad. If you got money to spare, i suggest you pick another bus. As for me, being a student i have lots of time and no money to spare. So i prefer this bus. And on most days i am lucky to find myself an empty triple seat and i get a nice 5-6 hours sleep.

  10. I am a regular KeralaSRTC passenger in Bangalore-Palakkad route. Compared to private buses, our KSRTC is far better in reaching on time. Very few occasions bus reached palakkad late by maximum 30-45 mins, its all because of road construction work near coimbatore and Traffic Jam at Walayar. Most of the time bus will be later when it cover Hosur, but driver will adjust the time between Krishnagiri and coimbatore. KarnatakaSRTC Volvo is OK, but Rajahamsa is also very poor when compared to KeralaSRTC. Love KeralaSRTC
