An Express staffer on duty was assaulted by a KSRTC official at the Central Bus Station, Thampanoor, on Thursday. Express photographer BP Deepu was prevented from taking photographs by the official who did not reveal his identity. He also tried to smash the camera, but was restrained by the security men present in the station. The incident took place around 4 p.m.

When the photographer presented his identity card and asked for the same from the official, who was apparently in an inebriated state, he showered abuses and threatened to manhandle the lensman. Later, the KSRTC staffer walked in to the Station Controller’s office.

The Station Controlling officer-in-charge also admitted that the person involved was a staffer, but didn’t reveal his identity.

On receiving a complaint, KSRTC managing director KG Mohanlal said that he would definitely look into the matter. “There is no ground to question a person who remains in the passengers’ lounge. I’ll seek a report from those concerned,” he said.
