The Datsun redi-GO is the Japanese carmaker’s third attempt to woo Indian car buyers. Set to be one of the most affordable cars in the country, the redi-GO shares its DNA with the Renault Kwid, and while the Renault is a budget hatchback itself, the redi-GO is even cheaper with prices ranging between Rs 2.39 lakh and Rs 3.34 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. Bookings are already underway at dealerships, for a token amount of Rs 5,000.

Datsun is offering the car in 5 variants – D, A, T, T(O) and S. Here’s a look at what you get with each variant:

D (Priced at Rs 2,38,900, ex-showroom Delhi)

The base variant of the redi-GO comes with the limited features but is still a decent option for anyone wanting to take the leap from a two-wheeler to a car. Features include a heating and ventilation system, average and instant fuel economy readouts, a trip meter, an upshift indicator, driver-side sun visor, driver-side wing mirror and black steel wheels with hubcaps.

A (Priced at Rs 2,82,649, ex-showroom Delhi)

The ‘A’ variant adds an air conditioner, digital tachometer, rear grab handles, an accessory socket, an immobilizer, silver accented headlamps, a chrome accent on the front grille, body coloured bumpers, a passenger-side sun visor and wing mirror, glovebox with a lid, a foldable rear seat, premium seat fabric, a blackened B-pillar and silver steel wheels with hubcaps.

T (Priced at Rs 3,09,149, ex-showroom Delhi)

Opt for the ‘T’ grade and you add power steering, a grab handle for the front passenger, two front speakers, a mobile phone dock, black steel wheels with a full wheel cover, piano black finish for the centre console, a silver insert on the steering wheel and silver finished AC vents.

T (O) (Priced at Rs 3,19,399, ex-showroom Delhi)

This variant adds power windows and a single-DIN music system with CD/AUX/USB connectivity.

S (Priced at Rs 3,34,399, ex-showroom Delhi)

The range-topping ‘S’ variant adds daytime running LEDs and a driver airbag and if you are buying the redi-GO, we highly recommend getting this variant.

on to know the result of Datsun redi-GO vs Renault Kwid comparison.

Unfortunately, no variant of the redi-GO gets an airbag for the front passenger and even ABS isn’t included. The redi-GO is powered by the same 799cc, 3-cylinder engine as the Renault Kwid that makes 54PS of power at 5,678rpm and 72Nm of torque at 4,386rpm and comes mated with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Depending on the variant, the redi-GO is cheaper than the Kwid by Rs 14,000 to Rs 38,000. However, the Tata Nano GenX is cheaper than the Datsun by Rs 30,000 to Rs 45,000. Which car would you pick and why? Share your thoughts with us in the comments!
