Bus cleaner killed in accident on national highway near Cherthala

A 28-year-old bus cleaner was killed when a tourist bus rammed into a truck on National Highway 66 near Cherthala railway station in Kerala in the wee hours of Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as ManojKumar, Son of George native Coimbatore. Other passengers got injured and admitted nearby hospitals.

The accident took place as chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan today here inaugurate Subhayathra programme of the state government to avoid traffic accidents.

On Monday, a truck driver was killed and as many as 14 people were injured when a KSRTC bus collided with a truck at ONK Junction, Kayamkulam.

Kayamkulam police have said the deceased has been identified as Sanalkumar,29, Kumbalathukunnel house, Chavara, Kollam. The accident took place at 6 am. The truck was proceeding to Alappuzha from Kollam and the bus was heading towards
Thiruvananthapuram from Alappuzha, the police said.

Muneer, driver of KSRTC bus also sustained injuries and his condition is series. Sanalkuamr died at MCH in the afternoon. Body will be handed over to relatives after postmortem examination on Tuesday, the police said.

The injured people are undergoing treatment at Alappuzha Medical College and Kayamkulam taluk hospitals. Traffic was disrupted at least one hour due to the accident.
