Malayalam Film stars and others in the film industry are forced to spend days at home as shootings are cancelled. Many of them took to social media pages revealing their hobbies amid lockdown. Now, actor and mimicry artiste Kottayam Naseer turned a star over his hobby.

Most people know Kottayam Nazeer only as a talented mimicry artist and film actor. But now, he brushed up his skills as an artist and painted some stunning portraits and pictures during the lockdown days.

His paintings feature forest, river, animals, and other beautiful landscapes. His fans were surprised to identify the hidden talent of Kottayam Nazeer.

Later, for three years, he learnt watercolour drawing at the AP arts school in the town.

“I received a lot of prizes at that time,” says Nazeer. “Then I became interested in mimicry and that became my career.”However, Nazeer did not stop painting altogether. Whenever there was spare time on film sets or during international tours, Nazeer would take to drawing. Today as he debuts as a painter, a new career beckons.

When asked about his artistic influences and inspirations, Kottayam Nazeer says, “I am inspired by the greatest painters, like Michelangelo and Da Vinci. I am a very big fan of their work and have been lucky enough to see some of their paintings first-hand when travelling abroad.
